Mother’s Day tea in our toddler Montessori classroom

Mother’s day tea is an annual tradition at every Montessori job I’ve ever worked at.  A couple years ago, I decided to adapt the mother’s day tea experience for my toddlers.

I got the idea to let them hand-blend and pour our own tea bags!  (:  This has been wildly successful; and the children LOVE it.  It makes our classroom smell amazing.  It’s affordable and safe.  It allows the children to do a functional transferring activity for a purposeful reason.  If the moms can’t drink the tea for whatever reason, they also make lovely scent satchels the parents can keep in their cars or in sock drawers.  The children made so many of them that each mama went home with at least three tea bags.

Teas we used were all loose-leaf and herbal : chamomile, mint, lavender, hibiscus, and ginger.

Cheers to all the mamas out there; I hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day weekend!
